Getting ready for a new year

Sorry for not having written for a while ~ life has gotten in the way of a lot of what I've been wanting to do.  As many of you may know, I have a six year-old daughter and this year, it has been a real challenge to keep her busy while giving myself the time to create.  My own schedule - getting up before the crack of dawn - made it difficult for me to stay up past 7 p.m. most nights.  I'm hoping that with school starting soon and my schedule changing to a more normal, human schedule (my office hours are now 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.), I hope to be able to enjoy some me time!  As well, my work schedule took off: I went from having staff and to being underworked to no staff and to there always being something to work on ~ sometimes so much I don't know where to start!

I'm looking forward to a new school year starting in a couple of weeks - actually, the daughter starts back to school the day after Labour Day.  Since my own school days, I've always thought of the first day of school as being akin to New Year's Day.  I also use Labour Day to set new goals for myself, for our household (especially seeing as we will be celebrating the second anniversary of our housie being delivered) and for work, too, although this year, my old boss had me set my yearly goals back in early January!

Given that I want to develop my own line of invitations and stationery, along with undertaking another new venture - maybe - that compliments the stationery, I will be working over the next few days and weeks to set my new goals and creating my "Lunenburg Press" business plan.  One of my goals this year is to blog more about my business, my work and my daily adventures.  Stay tuned!

{my mission}

I am in the process of writing a business plan for Lunenburg Press so that I can set and meet goals.  One of the steps in this process is to write a mission statement for the business.  According to Tara Gentile and "52 weeks of blogging your passion", there are three key mission components: passion/ inspiration, how is that manifested and why do I want people to buy my products.

Here's what I have:
My main inspiration comes from around me.  My surroundings and I are unique and I want my stationery to reflect that, which is why I started Lunenburg Press as an outlet for my unique, hand-crafted invitations, announcements and social stationery.  I hope to offer my readers and my customers unique creations, tailored to their needs and I hope that this blog serves to inspire them to find their passion and creativity and to share in my daily adventures.

I'm also fleshing out this blog and creating categories for my posts.  Tara's suggested categories work well for what I've got planned and while I might expand them as I go, here are the initial categories for the blog: {inspiration}, {information}, {images} and {the further adventures}.

In closing, Happy Canada Day!

{looking forward to some creative time tonight}

One of my biggest challenges, right now, is finding the time to do everything that I want to be doing with Lunenburg Press.  I want to buy a small letterpress press - I'm seriously looking at a hobby one, right now; I am trying to create inventory but often find that I'm too tired or that my "mojo" has gone!

This week, I'm off work - in Canada, we're celebrating Canada Day tomorrow - as a three and a half day work week held no appeal to me!  Today is really the first day where I've felt that I could be remotely creative on paper.  I'm hoping for some serious creative time this afternoon and especially this evening, after the child has gone to bed and before I pick up the hubsters from his job.

So, I'm off to drop the hubs off to work - and then for some serious playtime for Mommy!

{My new adventure}

In the past few months, I've been toying with an idea and I'm working on taking it live over the next few weeks.  As the plan comes together, I'll be putting up here!  This is a big step for me and I'm lucky to benefit from my hubby's support as well as my daughter's enthousiasm!
Check back soon!
Thanks for reading me!
